Spring Oh Spring, I Welcome You!

Every year I look forward to cooler weather here in Texas... the Summers are HOT, especially August so that first cool Fall breeze is very welcomed. But also, about this time of the year, I crave some warmer days! I am very much a "season's" kind of girl and am inspired by the colors and sounds around me. Like right now, the birds are chipping outside on this beautiful 70 degree day, the sun is shinning and there is a touch of warmth in the air. (Now, if only the ground were a tad drier so the kids could go out back and play, it would be absolutely perfect-  but for now, I'll be happy with opening the back door to let in some of that beautiful fresh air!)

With all of that said, I can't help but get in the mood to plant some pretty flowers in those empty dirt filled pots, start pulling out some fresh cheery throw pillows for the couch, and add some new happy spring items to my shop!

Here is a sample of what is making me REALLY excited right now:
Babies Babies Babies- The stork will soon bring us one, too!
New Vintage Flower Pins in some fresh lively colors- Yellow
 Fabulous Turquoise
Smokin' Hot Pink (Oh how I love you!)
Ahhhh, and last but not least, this gorgeous Spring Wreath- a perfect way to update your home for Spring!

More items to come so stay tuned....I'm thinking something to do with candles, mini chalkboards.... I love Spring!

Don't forget to stop by My Blessed Farmhouse to take a closer look at this sneak-peak of my Spring Line! My doors are always open!

Oh Happy Day of Love!

Happy Valentine's Day!
If you were a Thurlow cutie, today you'd receive some special Valentine's goodies throughout the day. First, it would be this cute little butterfly with a chocolate heart:
Heart shaped pancakes for breakfast:

"A Kiss For...." Bookmark:

A special cookie in a cute cello baggie:

And to conclude the day, decorate a cupcake! YUM!
Even though I'm not crazy about this day the older I get, I still want to make it very special for our cuties! I hope they feel very loved today. I know I loved the time spent making all of the goodies for them and planning the day!

Knitting for Baby!

With just 6 short weeks away from my due date, I decided I better get started on knitting a baby blanket and hat for our sweet little girl. Last Friday I picked out yarn during a trip to Hobby Lobby figuring I needed to give myself PLENTY of time to get this project completed. The first blanket I knitted was for our youngest daughter and it took a. very. long. time... so I expected the same with this blanket. Well, I got to work on it Sunday and three short days later it is done! YAHOO! I really didn't expect it to go so fast but I guess all I can say is that my knitting skills must have improved since that first blanket.
I knit the stripes using Lions Brand Wool-Ease thick and quick yarn in blossom and raspberry. Loving that color combination....
And I had enough of the blossom color left over to make this sweet little newborn hat. The past baby hats that I knit, following patterns, were always way too big for our newborns' heads even thought they were suppose to fit a newborn. With that said, I was a little hesitant to knit another newborn hat that would end fitting a 3-6 month old.
Then, I came across this hat pattern and gave it a try. Not only did I learn a new skill (magic loop!) it turned out so cute and looks like it really should fit a newborn. It is tiny, it is perfect, and it will look oh so cute on our precious new baby! I compared the finished size to a hat size chart and all of the measurements are correct for fitting a newborn!
And of course, I had to add a little vintage flair in the form of one off my Vintage Flower Pins. I really do love how this hat turned out and can't wait to see it on her for the very first time! Can't wait to meet you, sweet baby!

Until later,

Christina

Done!

I just finished up this fast and easy wreath idea from Amy's blog- BlissfulBlooms. It was so fast and easy and I love how it turned out. AND it only took about 30 minutes to make! Love that!
All you need to do is take a paper plate and cut out the center so you are left with a wreath-looking paper plate form... Wrap it in some red yarn and then finish it off with some felt flower or whatever embellishment you choose. Amy did doily rosettes that look so pretty. I had felt on hand so that is what I used. Last, I used some scrap lace to hang it from.
Now our little red wall hanging hutch is all ready for Valentine's Day. I think this project could easily be adapted for any season of the year using different colors of yarn and coordinating embellishments.

FAST. EASY. CUTE. DONE!

Have a great week!
