Oh Deer!

I have a fun little craft to share with you!
I first saw this on pinterest and just knew I had to make it.
Here's my finished GLITTERED deer!
Glitter really does make everything better :)

AN EASY HOW TO

This was super simple and didn't take very long to make. I printed the deer silhouette on white card stock with a greeting below.
I filled in the image with Tombow Multi Liquid Glue and then......
GLITTERED!
Let dry, cut to size to fit your frame, and that's it!

Here's the finished project hung up and looking so sparkly.
And as you can see, I finally got some pictures in those frames.
(Just 2 left empty but waiting on baby's arrival before they get filled)

In just a few days the Fall decor will come down and Advent/Christmas will start to go up.
Can you believe Advent starts THIS Sunday?
Time is flying!

Have fun and go glitter something!
Bye!

Two FUN Christmas Banners!

Hi Guys!

Even though Thanksgiving isn't even here yet (my very pregnant self is sooooo craving Thanksgiving dinner) I've been crafting for Christmas and have two very fun banners to share.

I LOVE banners and buntings and garland and pennants.
I can't get enough of them.
To me they make me feel like a party is always going on.
They make me smile and make my heart happy.
So fun!

So here I am to share two new additions to our handmade Christmas decor!
First up is my fun take on November's My Paper Pumpkin by Stampin Up!
My Paper Pumpkin is a fun monthly kit that shows up on your door steps once a month full of goodies and a pre-planned project for you.
November's project wasn't to make a banner though! When I opened the box I instantly knew I would not be turning these beautiful papers, stamps and embellishments  into Christmas cards (their planned project for us).
I knew without a doubt that I wanted to turn this into a Christmas banner to enjoy year after year after year.
The kit included everything but the rhinestones, ribbon, buttons and eyelets.
With a little creativity here is a close up of what I came up with.
I'm in love with the little stars sewn together that did come in the kit. They are absolutely adorable!
Now, scroll down to enjoy a few too many pictures of this sweet banner :)

For the sake of photographing I hung it from my sewing desk shelves.
After Thanksgiving it will have a new home in our entry way.
Can't wait!

Now on to this little cutie!
She is so shiny and glittery and I'm in love with this one as well.
All I did to make this one was glitter a sheet of card stock and used my Silhouette to cut the letters out for me. I punched some holes and strung it up with Stampin' Up! cherry cobbler bakers twine.
In order to thicken up each letter I cut a second set of letters on non-glittered card stock and taped to the backs.

And as you can see my sewing desk shelves helped me display this one as well.
Come to think of it, I might need to make something or my sewing desk, too!

Happy Christmas Crafting!
What have you been up to?

Knitting for baby

I really can't believe I'm down to the final weeks before our sweet little baby will be here.
We will be a family of 8! Yikes!
About 3.5 years ago I learned to knit and since then I've knitted a blanket and hat for our little ones.
This time I added booties!
Socks and baby booties are something I've wanted to learn for a while now but just didn't have the skills until recently. Learning to make socks has been on my list for the past 2 years and finally this past summer I took a class and learned!
So let me tell you about these little baby booties.
You don't need to be a skilled knitter to make them! They are beginner level and only took me about 45 minutes from start to finish. That included casting on all the way to weaving in the final ends. I like projects like that!
After knitting the blanket and hat I had a tiny bit of the grey and blue yarn leftover so I started searching the internet for patterns. I decided to do blue "soles" because I wasn't sure if the grey would go far enough and didn't want to run out in the middle on this little project.
These as so easy to make!
All you do is cast on 26 and knit every row for 10 rows.
Bind off 10 and knit to the end of the row.
Bind off 10 more.
Now you are left with 6 stitches on your needles.
Knit these 6 stitches for 21 rows and bind off.
(these 6 stitches for 21 rows is where I changed to blue)
You will have sort of a T shape piece at this point.
Fold in the left and right sides of T and sew at the toe and along the sides.

And that's it! Seriously simple and easy!
I used size 8 needles and worsted weigh yarn.
And here is another link where I found the directions I followed.

Now let's talk about this sweet little baby hat!
It is another REEEEEAAAAALLLLLY easy hat to knit and can be done in a short amount of time.
I think this one only took me about an hour to make. Gotta love that!
I first made this hat 2  years ago from another internet search looking for a simple newborn hat to make our baby. I wish I had a link to give credit to where I found it but it was before I was using Pinterest and after printing directions and closing the browser, that was the end of that.
With that said- if this is your pattern, let me know! I'd love to give you credit. :)

This pattern works well using a bulky weight yarn or doubling up worsted weight, which is what I did.
I used size 13 needles using the magic loop method but you can also use double pointed or circular as well.

Cast on 24
Knit 2, Purl 2 ribbing for 5"
Decrease as follows:
Row 1: k2tog, p2 around
Row 2: k1, p2 around
Row 3: k1, p2tog around
Row 4: k1, p1 around
Row 5: p2tog around
Row 6: purl around

Cut yarn, pull end through remaining 6 stitches and weave in ends.

So easy to make and the perfect fit for a newborn baby. I've found most hat patterns claiming to fit newborns/0-3 month old's are too big. This one is perfect!

And as for the blanket?
It came from the 8 hour baby blanket book. It's copyright so I can't share but it is the thin stripe pattern. I love that book and it has been my go-to baby blanket book from the beginning!

Now that the blanket, hat and booties are finished all we are missing is the baby!
Can't wait!

Shop News

Hi Friends!
Can you believe it is already November?
Halloween has come and gone and now we are all getting ready for Thanksgiving and thinking about Christmas!!
I have to admit, I've been thinking about Christmas for a while now. With a baby due just a couple of weeks before Christmas you tend to start thinking about gifts and doing some planning early.
With that said, I just wanted to stop by and share my shop closing dates with ya!
I'll be closing down early this year with a sweet little bundle due in 4.5 weeks (yep, I'm counting down).
The last date I'm taking orders is Friday November 15th. If I have any orders to fill at that point, I'll remain open until the last package is shipped away but won't be taking any new orders until I reopen sometime in 2014.
I can't say for sure the date I'll reopen at this point but I'm thinking sometime in January with limited stock as I ease back into life with a new baby and 5 other little ones! Babies like to shake things up and turn your your life upside down in such an awesome way, don't they?
So, with all of that said, if there is anything you have your eye on order soon!
It's been a wonderful  year!
Thank you all and I look forward to what 2014 has to bring for my little shop!
