Happy Birthday: Picnic Style

Our sweet little one turned 1 yesterday.
Turning 1 is such a big deal!
I wanted to make it an extra special day yet try to keep it simple at the same time.
When the idea of a picnic-style birthday party came to me one night over dinner I was super excited about my genius idea! Usually the weather here in pretty nice by March but not this year. It has been cold and windy so we had our picnic dining-room-style.
I used a di, pretty paper and stamp (all from Stampin' Up) to make the cupcake toppers. I love making cupcake toppers and love how these turned out. In the past I've used bamboo skewers cut to size but for these I came across these cute white lollipop sticks at Michaels.
I filled a pitcher with cupcake liner flowers and pinwheels, added a little lantern to the table and displayed the cupcakes as a centerpiece. I've learned something about myself over the years- I like trio's of things.
 hehe
At first I just had the cupcake flowers and lantern but knew something was missing. That is where the cupcakes came into play!
I used the same di to make this fun oil cloth pennant as I used to make the cupcake toppers.
(The di comes with 2 scallop circles and 3 triangles!)
Isn't it so summery and fun?
I can't wait until the weather warms up a bit and move it to the back patio!

NOW ONTO THE FOOD!

Everyone's picnic dinner was packed in cute little wooden berry baskets found here.
Yep, I sewed the chip bags embellished with paper!
I love sewing paper.
Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Girl!
We love you!
